We were just talking about this, and we don’t think it is cheating! We think it’s the difference between running on a treadmill or running outdoors. One may be easier, but it still counts 😀 And Sarah said something very true, that she wouldn’t tell a blind person that they hadn’t really absorbed a book as they had listened to it.
Very true! And I believe Dickens especially is written to be read aloud. Plus it allows you to ‘read’ whilst hanging out the washing or shopping for groceries! My favourite Librivox Dickens recordings are David Copperfield read by Tadhg Hynes and anything read by Mil Nicholson. At the moment, I’m listening to a dramatic reading of Hard Times, which is pretty good too…

Yay! There’s so many, it will be fun, I promise 😉 My mother gave me the entire set, so the unread ones, including books of short stories remind me of their ignored existence regularly by giving me angry looks from the bookshelf.
I found it shocking how many I thought I’d read because I knew the story from films and the like, but had never actually read the book. It’s Dickens’ fault for being just everywhere!
