Happy Bloomsday!
Happy Bloomsday everyone!
Today – June 16th – is the day in which, in 1904, all the action from James Joyce’s ‘Ulysses‘ takes place.
In order to celebrate, I thought I’d knit a little Leopold Bloom in a black suit and bowler hat, carrying his newspaper. Here he is.
You’re going to have quite an army of knitted writers/characters! I bet it’s like Toy Story and they move about when you are asleep, stealing your gin and complaining about the noise the coming from your knitted footballers.

They do move about in the night, although I suspect that’s my daughter playing with them. I do plan on taking them on trips out to the supermarket or the park, perhaps. I bet Thomas Hardy and Virginia Woolf would enjoy a cup of Earl Grey in the M&S cafe in Carmarthen. Dickens could go off for a walk, Balzac would sneak off to Costa for a triple espresso or five, and Little Leo would be checking out the contents of M&S ready meals for offal and prime giblets. I’d leave Victor Hugo at home, what with him only wearing a blanket, and all, he might scare the children.
